After a long leave of absence on the blog lines, I realized that our study on "Dying to live" is too important not to be talking about it. To over-simplify, the bottom line of this pursuit is to live in such a passionate way that we make a significant difference in our World.
If our entire Church was suddenly and completely removed from this community, would anyone notice? Would we be missed for our contributions to life in this city?
If you were suddenly removed from your neighborhood, or from your job, would you leave a hole that would be hard to fill? Would people notice that there is a "light" missing? Would they miss a loving and enthusiastic spirit that could only come from God?
In preparation for this study in the last couple of months, it has been very sobering to me to realize that much of my busyness may not mean a thing 10 or 20 years from now. In God's economy, the only things that will last are what He produces through me as I learn to daily die to myself,i.e., my appetites, my agenda, my comforts, my stuff....and it doesn't really matter what happened yesterday- whether God did amazing things through me or not, today, it starts all over again, and I am commanded to lay it all down again, that He might live through me in ways I have never imagined.
I pray that we will enter this journey together, and that we will share with each other what God is showing us as we learn to live for Him!
